This documentary film includes never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews to tell the story of Charity Hospital, from its inception almost 300 years ago, to its controversial closing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. From firsthand accounts of healthcare providers and hospital employees who withstood the storm inside the hospital, to interviews with key players involved in the closing of Charity, Big Charity shares the untold, true story around its demise and sheds new light on the sacrifices made for the sake of progress.
Big Charity was the first major film project for Catchfire Productions. I was a producer of the film and composed all of the films original music. Working alongside director Alex Glustrom and producer Catherine Rierson for six years on a limited budget, The Big Charity Team and I were able to put together a truly independent film that shed light on one of our nations most historic institutions.
